The final chapter begins as Harry, Ron, and Hermione continue their quest of finding and destroying the Dark Lord's three remaining Horcruxes, the magical items responsible for his immortality. But as the mystical Deathly Hallows are uncovered, and Voldemort finds out about their mission, the biggest battle begins and life as they know it will never be the same again.
Here is where my main criteria comes from: The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King has by far set the bar in ending an epic journey between good and bad; now with that being said: this film does not even come close to ending such a long cinematic journey. The final battle is very unfelt and dull between Harry and Voldemort; it even seemed like most of it was in the trailers. Atleast in Revenge of the Sith; Anakin and Obi Wan gave us a show! Mainly the best parts of the film were the returning younger cast to whom we have had the joy of watching grow up on the big screen. The action prior to the finale was exciting at times and it was definately nice to see a Potter film closer to 2 hours long so that it can get to the climax sooner and move along the pace better. For huge Harry Potter fans this movie may hit the right spot for them but for a casual movie buff like myself that set the bar high for this film; may be a little bit under whelmed. I definately would wait to rent this movie but if you must see it right now; wait for the matinee!
2 out of 4 stars.
